Times have changed but not our attitude to women: Seethakka

Dansari Anasuya (born 9 July 1971), commonly known as Seethakka, is an Indian politician. She is elected to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2009 and Telangana Legislative Assembly in 2018 from Mulug assembly constituency. She was appointed general secretary of All India Mahila Congress in June 2018 and in August 2019 became state in-charge of Chhattisgarh Mahila Congress.

Seethakka, who belongs to Koya tribe, joined the movement at an early age and was a Dalam commander. She surrendered, studied law, and is now pursuing a PhD from the Osmania University.

In this journey to her people, she has crossed rivulets, climbed steep mountains and crossed dense forests to reach these villages, many of which are located in Maoist-affected border area with Chattisgarh.

Each day, Danasari Anasuya, known popularly in the constituency as Seethakka, sets off at 8 am with rice, vegetables, and other food essentials. Aided by her followers, she has taken it upon herself to reach out to the poor and needy.
